A group of students from the National Taipei University of Technology has developed a new labelling system for supermarkets to fight food waste. “Barcodiscount” uses a color-changing coating technology application in order to make different layers of discounts and barcodes appear over time. The timer can be set from 30 seconds to 30 days and will be activated at the very moment when the label is attached. The students hope that their concept can reduce food waste and contributes to the goal of zero hunger on the planet.
